Day 178 - Dog day afternoon

The hall leading to the 5 screens of the Curzon Oxford.

We tried a new movie theatre today. In a really pretty mall (yes, in this case you can say that) in Oxford is a new theatre called the Curzon. It's quite a lovely space...you can still smell the paint and new carpet...consisting of five screens all with stadium style seating.

We had come to see the movie "Isle of Dogs," and had our choice of seats in the cinemas largest room. In the end, we shared the movie with only five other people...somewhat odd given that in the UK, kids are still on their two-week break before their third term starts at school. We chose seats at the very back, as we usually do. In this theatre, the last few rows are all made up of double seats...great for cuddling while movie watching.

We both enjoyed the film. Great voice actors, really interesting puppet animation style, and a funny story line that makes a strong point about man's impact on the environment. On the Smith/Walsh scale, it earns a 4 out of 5.

After that, we walked back to the Oxford train station, taking time to stroll through the area around the Oxford castle, a place we still haven't visited! So many things to do.

On the train both to and back from Oxford, we were conscious of how much busier the area is getting. It is a Friday, the kids are on holiday, and the tourist season is now officially started once again. If the sun comes out, I'm sure the place is going to explode with people as quickly as the leaves on the trees explode into bloom.
