Day 206 - Rabbit Food

Okay. So yesterday I mentioned that we were done eating. And of course, I meant we were done for yesterday. But, unfortunately, we couldn't let Amanda leave without experiencing two further culinary delights: a Full English breakfast and a really good pub meal. So today's plans were built around that.

We chose The Old Bakery for breakfast given that it has yet to disappoint. Once again, it was as good as expected. Lovely breakfast, with not too much food ... thankfully.

Then it was time to walk it off. We decided to do a bit of a local walk, so went up over the hill to take a closer look at the village of Millbrook. It sits at the end of a tidal creek, and has been dammed for flood control.

The "lake" in Millbrook.
We explored the area, attempting to find the 'mill' and 'brook' that makes up the name. We did find the general area, but the mill buildings seem to have been incorporated into various other buildings, and the mill pond was inaccessible as the area is now being used for a storage facility. I guess not everything lasts.

We then walked back to Cawsand in the lovely sunshine, and stopped in to The Old Bakery for coffee and cake (that is lunch in Cornwall). Then, of course, it was nap time.

Before dinner, we set out to spend a bit of time having a drink in the garden of the Halfway House Inn.

We had booked a table at the Devonport Inn. This pub is in one of the most idyllic locations...right above the beach at Kingsand. My limited research indicates the pub has been around since at least 1740, when it was known as the Plume of Feathers. It's name was changed to The Devonport Inn by 1833.  It's current owners are a husband and wife team, Dawn and Jerome Leopold. Jerome is the chef and is from the Lorraine region of Northern France. The housekeeper of our cottage highly recommended the restaurant, and everything we had was perfect. Phil and I had seafood, while Amanda enjoyed rabbit pie. And I won't even begin to tell you about the desserts (okay...sticky toffee pudding, and chocolate fondant with a peanut butter centre ... and three spoons).

Following this lovely meal, we took a walk and enjoyed one last evening in Kingsand and Cawsand with a wonderful friend who we will be sad to see leave.
