DAY 151 - Hey Spring! Repeat after me: "I know I can, I know I can"

Poor flower baskets!
As I mentioned yesterday, some days you simply have to shut yourself in and go into complete denial that winter has refused to go without a fight.

As a Canadian we wondered, "What snow?"
We tried to resist this urge to become permanent hermits. We got up this morning and went for a walk to the Fosseway Garden Centre.

We wandered through the unshovelled snow-covered streets and made our way to the cafe at the garden centre. We were the only customers in the place when we first arrived. Several young staff members had managed to make it into work, but the chefs had not. As a result, the food options were a bit limited. But we still managed to enjoy a nice cup of coffee and toasted teacake for breakfast ... as well as a lovely conversation with the very friendly staff working. Of course, as one would expect, all talk turned to the weather. [Note: a big shout out to Fosseway Garden Centre for not only working hard to open up when many others stayed closed, but for having staff that seemed so enthusiastic and unwilling to let the weather deter them.]
Breakfast of champion snow walkers
By the time we were about to leave, more brave souls had arrived looking for a reason to get outside and glad for any store to be open.

Once back in our flat, the sky had darkened and snow resumed off and on.

We'd had enough. We closed the curtains and took a nap. Sometime hibernation really is the only option.
The duck pond in Moreton in Marsh as you rarely see it, but the birds really didn't seem too bothered.
