Day 36 - A Regal Moment

The day after Becca's birthday was one that required Angela to work and so my lovely daughter and I decided to go to Evesham to take in a late afternoon film at the Regal Cinema.  As Becca had not been to Evesham yet we took the 15 minute train journey earlier in the day so that I could show her the sights (see earlier blog for sites to see in Evesham).

Aside from the usual sites we did stop for lunch at an inexpensive (cheap), gastronomic (greasy), full of character (old) diner on the main street. Butler's. An Evesham landmark and a great place for a tuna mayonnaise baguette and a plate of chips!

Suitably fed and landmarked out, it was time to go to the Regal.  This cinema first was built in 1932 and had seating for over 900 filmgoers.  It was closed in 2003 and left derelict until 2012 when it reopened after investment of over 2 million pounds.

The Regal is now a combination of cinema and nightclub.  A large screen, a stage and the lower level is made up of two and four seater tables.  A bar sits at the back of the lower level and you can text the bar to have drinks and meals brought to your table.

The balcony has a middle section of two seater loveseats with side tables for food and drink (you order like you do in the lower level or pre-order before you take the seat).  The wings of the balcony are single seats. Yes I know we have that in Canada, i.e. VIP Cinema but this is way more sophisticated.  They show first run movies in luxurious surroundings and on certain weekends they have musical and comedy shows.
Today, Becca and I were taking in The Kingsman: Golden Circle. Two hours of crazy later we emerged from a delightful experience.  No question that we would return again with Ange before Becca had to leave to go back home.

Ale of the Day: Landlord Pale Ale, Timothy Taylor Knowle Spring Brewery, Keighly, Yorkshire
